I love doing research. I don’t need anything more to motivate me. What could be more fun than hanging in a lab full of cutting-edge gear trying to solve puzzles?

      Hello ninjallamas,
Knowing that at any moment I can see something for the first time, something that no one has ever seen. Something that no one knows about. Is pretty cool! 🙂

      Hi ninjallamas,

Like most scientist I have an intrinsic motivation: I am not after fame and glory or money. I just really want to know! Sometimes you want to know so much that you think about your research under the shower, on the beach, while jogging, …

I think that is the key to be a successful scientist. I don’t know any famous scientist lacks that curiousity. If you don’t have curiousity together with a lot of endurance and patience, you will find more rewarding careers outside science. The ones with glory and fame and money 😉

Like Robert, I love it! It is so exciting to plan and carry out experiments and be the first one to find out something new! But, that can take a long time, and things don’t always go smoothly so as Susanne says, you have to have a lot of endurance and patience – like marathon runners!
