I’d like to still be discovering things that are interesting in another 10 years. And 20. And, now mandatory retirement has been banned, 30 years’ time.
As well as doing research that I hope will help us to understand diseases better and find ways to treat them, I also want to help train the next generation of scientists. I may help to make small discoveries that help further our knowledge, but if I can inspire and help new scientists for the future, I’d be pretty happy with that.
I have to agree with Susanne in every single word. As her I really enjoy science, but this a very intense life and is difficult to find the right balance between work and personal life. Some people manage to do it. But for me having my own family is something that I would not sacrifice for science. So my best goal is finding a job that is challenging, science related, but that is easier to put together with a family life.
